Question #2 - "OUTSIDE the Box Ideas"
RESTRUCTURE OPTIONS |
|
(Key:
LL=Lay Leader // P=Pastor) |
|
|
RESTRUCTURE OPTIONS |
|
P |
Free each church to go independent or join with another district.
Move towards caring for what we have and have had, rather than
constantly trying to plant more churches. |
|
P |
Maybe we should form a new association that would align churches
based on similar characteristics, rather than location (the state
of Iowa). Maybe we should ask ourselves: if we began an
association of churches from scratch, would it look anything like
the current IBC? If it wouldn't, then maybe we need a resurrection
from the dead |
|
P |
Maybe we should sell Pine Lake and use those assets solely to fund
our church-planting. We could be very aggressive in church
planting with those resources, and in 10 years perhaps have
another 10-20 churches in Iowa. That doesn't mean we don't have
camp. It means our kids go to camp at other camps. |
|
P |
Maybe we should just report to the bgc... |
|
P |
Maybe we should decentralize state leadership to our Lead teams.
Maybe we should become a sub-district or region of another Area.
Back around 1975?? The Alaska District became an area of Columbia
(a huge district) with it's own board, budget, etc. and the DEM
Traveled to Alaska a few times each year, etc. |
|
P |
Maybe we should have no affiliation as an independent District,
but rather organize our LEAD teams around a central site and keep
communication with the National offices through the LEAD team Head
Coach. |
|
LL |
Maybe we should let each church move into a conference with which
they would best be served. Maybe we should let each decide
whether or not they want to retain the baptist affiliation - maybe
some would not |
|
LL |
Maybe we should exist as churches on our own. Maybe we should try
and connect with existing conference churches in close proximity
and exist as one church. Example from Des Moines… Grace church,
Grace West, Grace South, Grace East. |
|
LL |
Maybe we should try to invite all unaffiliated Baptist churches to
unite with us and in so doing, eliminate trying to start new
churches. |
|
P |
Maybe we should divide the conference into smaller sections and
have the "DEM" position be covered by a few pastors and a stipend
added to their salary through the IBC. This would eliminate many
of the things that IBC has to offer but would provide the
connection necessary to remain as a district district. This would
spin Pine Lake off as a solo ministry, responsible for its own
fund raising/marketing. mini conferences would have the ability
to bring other Baptist churches into their fold. |
|
P |
Maybe we should dissolve the IBC and give the 40 churches that are
left the opportunity to realign with another denomination or
conference (free agents). |
|
LL |
It would be nice to go that direction, but I think that if you
would need that many churches committed and going in the same
direction their statements of faith must line up and then the
support monetarily must follow. |
